Lady Gators are REGION CHAMPIONS!

 

The Boys and Girls cross country teams competed in the Region 1-AAAAA cross country championship on Thursday 10/29/20 hosted by Wayne County HS.  The teams competing in the region event were Coffee Co., Veterans HS, Ware Co., Warner Robbins HS, and Wayne Co.  The Boys race began at 5:00 PM and the Girls race followed.  The Gators placed 5^th in the field of 5, and their top 5 runners were Isaac Gaspar (jr.) placing 20^th with a time of 19:24, Josh Troupe (sr.) placing 23^rd with a time of 19:54, Daly Tuten (jr.) placing 28^th with a time of 21:11, Jon Robertson (so.) placing 29^th with a time of 21:16, and Anthony Phillips (jr.) placing 31^st with a time of 21:30.  The Lady Gators MADE HISTORY winning the first cross country region championship in Ware Co. History!  The Lady Gators placed all 5 of their scorers in the top 14 and had 2 all region placers.  To be all region you must place in the top 7 in the region championship.  Whitney Moore (fr.) placed 4^th and Keeli Holloway (fr.) placed 6^th in the event.  The Scoring runners for the Lady Gators Whitney Moore (fr.) placing 4^th with a time of 21:58, Keeli Holloway (fr.) placing 6^th with a time of 22:12, Selina Ocadiz (so.) placing 8^th with a time of 22:43, Hannah Moore (fr.) placing 9^th with a time of 23:00, and Evie Brown (so.) placing 14^th with a time of 23:48.  6 of the 7 Varsity Lady Gator runners are freshmen and sophomores!  They have a great future ahead of them.  The GHSA AAAAA state cross country meet will be held at Carrollton High School on Saturday 11/7/20. Wayne Co 10/15/2020

 

The Ware County cross country teams competed at Wayne Co. on Thursday 10/15.  There were 18 teams competing in the Boys race with a total of 169 runners and 16 teams running in the Girls race with a total of 130 runners.  The Gators placed 13^th out of 18 and the Lady Gators placed 2^nd of 16 beating all Region competition in the race.  The top 5 Boys were Isaac Gaspar (jr.) placing 26^th with a time of 18:25, Josh Troupe (sr.) placing 62^nd with a time of 19:44, Jojo Callahan (jr.) placing 91^st with a time of 20:55, Daly Tuten (jr.) placing 92^nd with a time of 20:58, and Jon Robertson (so.) placing 97^th with a time of 21:06.  The Lady Gators are running strong with the top 5 runners all freshman and sophomores!  Whitney Moore (fr.) placed 10^th with a time of 21:52, Keeli Holloway (fr.) placed 11^th with a time of 22:02, Selina Ocadiz (so.) placed 20^th with a time of 23:22, Evie Brown (so.) placed 26^th with a time of 23:51, and Hannah Moore (fr.) placed 27^th with a time of 24:08.  Ware County will be off next week to prepare for the 1-AAAAA region championship to be held at Wayne Co.
