The Ware County Cross Country teams competed in the Region 1 5A Cross country championship held at Coffee Co. middle school hosted by Coffee Co. HS. The Gators placed 6th overall as a team and the Lady Gators placed 3rd, qualifying for the GHSA State cross country championship next week. Running for the Gators were Silas Mixon (9th grade) placing 20th with a time of 19:31, Zy Ramsey (12th grade) placing 24th with a time of 19:50, Josh Smith (9th grade) placing 25th with a time of 20:14, Hayden Clement (11th grade) placing 30th with a time of 20:51, Da’Marion Zanders (`10th grade) placing 34th with a time of 21:10, Wesley Frye (10th grade) placing 39th with a time of 23:32, and Jesus Oropeza (12th grade) placing 41st with a time of 24:37. Running for the Lady Gators were Samantha Savinon-Rios (12th grade) placing 4th and finishing 1st team all-region with a time of 20:35, Keeli Holloway (12th grade) placing 7th with a time of 21:06, Whitney Moore (12th grade) placing 20th with a time of 25:07, Hannah Moore (12th grade) placing 26th with a time of 26:02, Olivia Sanders (11th grade) placing 30th with a time of 26:28, Madison Donlon (10th grade) placing 36th with a time of 29:15, and Denise Guiterrea (12th grade) placing 37th with a time of 30:59. The Lady Gators will travel to Carrollton HS for the 5A state cross country championship on Friday Nov.3rd.
