GHSA AAAAA State Cross Country Meet Hosted by Carrollton High School

The Ware Co. Gators runners ran at the GHSA AAAAA state XC meet hosted by Carrollton HS on Thursday 11/3/17.  The Gator boys team finished 29^th out of 32 teams and the girls finished 28^th out of 30 teams with each team picking up 2 spots from last season’s showing at the state meet.  The boys race hosted 226 runners and the girls race hosted 204 runners, the best in GA AAAAA classification.  The top 5 boys scoring for the Gators were Logan Millard (sr) finishing 64^th with a time of 18:29, Matthew Hamilton (sr) finishing 163^rd with a time of 19:56, Colby Walker (fr) finishing 185^th with a time of 20:26, Dakota Walker (so) finishing 200^th with a time of 20:59, and Bruce Altman (so) finishing 204^th with a time of 21:11.  Also running for the boys were Ethan Frye (so) and Brandon Foster (sr).  For the Gator girls, the top 5 scorers were Kaylah Youngblood (so) finishing 141^st with a time of 25:06, Maree Harris (jr) finishing 148^th with a time of 25:23, Hannah Boggan (so) finishing 153^rd with a time of 25:31, Aaliyah Sandiford (so) finishing 157^th with a time of 25:40, and Bailey Moore (fr) finishing 166^th with a time of 26:02.  Also running for the girls were Anne Lin (so) and Mia Sandiford (so).  The Gator runners would like to thank Mr. Smith, Coach Shields, Mrs. Merck, and the whole Gator family for your support this season!  Go Gators!

2 AAAAA Region Championship @ Wayne Co. HS 10/26/17

The Gator cross country teams competed in the Region 2 AAAAA Championship, hosted by Wayne Co. HS on Thursday 10/26 with both the boys team and the girls team qualifying for the state cross country meet for the 2^nd year in a row.  The boys team placed 3^rd in the region with a team score of 68 points and the girls team placed 3^rd in the region with their finish decided by a tiebreaker with Statesboro HS.  Both Ware Co. and Statesboro scored 73^th place finisher for each team (only the top 5 are designated scorers) and Ware Co. sophomore Mia Sandiford finished 28^th with a time of 26:15 ahead of Statesboro’s 6^th place runner sealing the tiebreaker for Ware Co.  Ware County senior Logan Millard was named as 2 AAAAA first team All Region with his third place finish in the boys race.  The top 7 runners in each race are named first team All Region.  The top 5 runners for the boys were Logan Millard (sr.), finishing 3^rd with a time of 17:14, Matt Hamilton (sr.), finishing 9^th with a time of 18:18, Ethan Frye (so.), finishing 16^th with a time of 18:38, Bruce Altman (so.), finishing 18^th with a time of 18:48, and Dakota Walker (so.), finishing 22^nd with a time of 19:17.  The Girls top 5 were Kaylah Youngblood (so.), finishing 9^th with a time of 22:31, Maree Harris (jr.), finishing 10^th with a time of 22:33, Aaliyah Sandiford (so.), finishing 16^th with a time of 23:31, Hannah Boggan (so.), finishing 17^th with a time of 23:32, and Bailey Moore (fr.), finishing 21^st with a time of 24:13.  The Gators will run at the AAAAA state cross country meet to be held at Carrollton HS on Friday 11/3/17.  The boys will race at 9:00 am and the girls will race at 9:45.

The Ware Co. Gators runners ran at Wayne Co. Thursday in their last regular season meet of the year.  The Gator boys team finished 5^th out of 18 teams and the girls finished 7^th out of 18 teams (Team results are listed below).  The top 5 boys for the Gators were Logan Millard (sr) finishing 4^th with a time of 17:22, Ethan Frye (so) finishing 17^th with a time of 18:26, Matt Hamilton (sr) finishing 25^th with a time of 18:48, Dakota Walker (so) finishing 54^th with a time of 19:44, and Bruce Altman (so) finishing 59^th with a time of 19:55.  For the Gator girls, the top 5 finishers were Kaylah Youngblood (so) finishing 18^th with a time of 23:15, Maree Harris (jr) finishing 21^st with a time of 23:20, Aaliyah Sandiford (so) finishing 43^rd with a time of 24:39, Hannah Boggan (so) finishing 55^th with a time of 25:19, and Bailey Moore (fr) finishing 57^th with a time of 25:43.  The boys race hosted a total of 140 runners and the girls race hosted 107 runners. The Gators will travel back to Wayne Co. next Thursday and to compete in the Region 2 AAAAA Cross country championship.  The top 4 teams will compete in the GHSA state Cross country meet in Carrollton GA on Friday Nov. 3^rd.  Boys will run at 4:30 and girls will run at 5:00 on Thursday 10/26.  Team results are listed below:

The Gator cross country teams competed at Jeff-Davis Thursday in the South GA XC Championship meet held at Jeff-Davis middle school.  There were over 900 runners in the meet between the middle school races and the high school races.  The Gator Boys placed 8^th of 19 teams and the Girls 8^th of 12 teams.  The boys varsity race ran 177 athletes and the girls varsity race ran 100.  The top 5 runners for the boys were Logan Millard (sr.), finishing 7^th with a time of 18:30, Matt Hamilton (sr.), finishing 19^th with a time of 19:17, Ethan Frye (so.), finishing 24^th with a time of 19:33, Colby Walker (fr.), finishing 65^th with a time of 20:48, and Dakota Walker (so.), finishing 66^th with a time of 20:49.  The Girls top 5 were Maree Harris (jr.), finishing 24^th with a time of 25:08,  Hannah Boggan (so.), finishing 38^th with a time of 26:14, Aaliyah Sandiford (so.), finishing 43^rd with a time of 26:35, Kaylah Youngblood (so.), finishing 44^th with a time of 26:31, and Bailey Moore (fr.), finishing 57^th with a time of 28:02.  The Gators will run at home on Thursday 9/28.  The meet will be held at the high school and we will honor our 5 seniors at our senior night ceremony.  The first varsity race will begin at 4:30.  Team results are listed below:

The Gator cross country teams competed at Wayne Co. Thursday and ran against 10 teams including Appling Co., Brantley Co., Toombs Co., Citizens Christian Academy, Wayne Co., Jeff-Davis Co., Long Co., Statesboro, Johnson of Savannah, and Liberty Co.  The Gator Boys placed 4^th of 11 teams and the Girls 3^rd of 11 teams. 

 The top 5 runners for the boys were Logan Millard (sr.), finishing 5^th with a time of 17:25, Matt Hamilton (sr.), finishing 11^th with a time of 18:31, Ethan Frye (so.), finishing 12^th with a time of 18:32, Dakota Walker (so.), finishing 27^th with a time of 19:44, and Colby Walker (fr.), finishing 33^rd with a time of 20:03.

Jekyll Island Invitational

The Gator runners attended the Jekyll Island Invitational on Saturday held at the Great Dunes Golf Course on Jekyll Island.  The boys varsity race had 224 runners from 26 teams and the girls varsity race had 182 runners from 28 teams.  

The Gator boys placed 14^th of 26 and the Gator girls placed 18^th of 28.  The  Boys top 5 were Logan Millard (sr.) placing 30^th overall with a time of 18:02, Matt Hamilton (sr.) placing 66^th with a time of 18:57, Ethan Frye (so.) placing 68^th with a time of 19:10, Colby Walker (fr.) placing 125^th with a time of 20:10, and Dakota Walker (so.) placing 127^th with a time of 20:13.  

Running top 5 for the Girls were Kaylah Youngblood (so.) finishing 52^nd with a time of 24:17, Maree Harris (jr.) placing 72^nd with a time of 25:10, Bailey Moore (fr.) placing 100^th with a time of 26:19, Anne Lin finishing 143^rd with a time of 28:14, and Jakaria Kay (jr.) finishing 168 with a time of 32:42.  

Also running for the Gator Boys were Brandon Foster, Bruce Altman, Grayson Smith, Austin Sweat, Kaelyb Dixon, Julian Morfin, Evan Smoak, Caleb Crawford, Brock Anderson, Quin Adamson, Kobie Turner, Jesus Hernandez, and Ernique Lockey.  The Gator girl runners included Bianca Luna-Cruz, Madeline Jones, and Gabrielle Davenport. 

The Gators will be travelling to Wayne Co. on Thursday.  Girls will start at 4:30 pm.

Ware Co XC - 8/24/17

Ware co. hosted 11 teams at the Swamp Thursday running more than 250 runners in their first meet of the year.  The teams participating were Ware Co., Fitzgerald, Johnson of Savannah, Glynn Academy, Valdosta, Pierce Co., Brantley Co, Appling, Coffee Co., McIntosh County Academy, Atkinson Co., and Southside.  In the Girls race 92 runners crossed the finish line and the Boys race hosted 164 runners. The Ware Co. Girls Finished 3^rd of 12 and the boys finished 4^th of 12.  The top 5 girl Gators were Kaylah Youngblood (10^th grade) finishing 10^th, Bailey Moore (9^th grade) finishing 24^th, Maree Harris (11^th grade) finishing 28^th, Hannah Boggan (10^th grade) finishing 38^th, and Ann Lin (10^th grade) finishing 39^th.  The top 5 boys were Logan Millard (12^th grade) finishing 1^st with a time of 19:11, Matt Hamilton (12^th grade) finishing 8th, Ethan Frye (10^th grade) finishing 10^th, Colby Walker (9^th grade) finishing 32^nd, and Brandon Foster (12^th grade) finishing 33^rd.  Team results are listed below.
