The Ware County cross country teams travelled to Jeff
Davis Middle School on Thursday to compete in the Southern Georgia XC
Championship hosted by Jeff Davis High School.
The event was massive with close to 1000 runners competing in the middle
school and high school races. The Gators
placed 16th of the 27 teams in the Boys varsity race which hosted
193 runners, scoring 374 points. Scoring
for the Gators were Zy Ramsey (11th grade) placing 60th
with a time of 20:04, Caleb Wise (9th grade) placing 62nd
with a time of 20:07, Jon Robertson (12th grade) placing 72nd
with a time of 20:22, Kamani Gainer (11th grade) placing 80th
with a time of 20:31, and Landon Hendrix (12th grade) placing 106th
with a time of 21:26. Also running in
the varsity race for the Boys were Landon Nettles (11th grade)
placing 156th with a time of 23:48 and Corbett Nettles (10th
grade) placing 168th with a time of 24:36.
The Lady Gators had a great run placing 4th
overall in the field of 19 teams scoring 140 points. There were 155 runners in the Girls varsity
race. The lady Gators had 3 runners in
the top 20. The top 20 runners in each
race received a medal. Scoring for the Lady
Gators were Samantha Savinon-Rios (11th grade) placing 3rd
with a time of 20:55, Selena Ocadiz (12th grade) placing 14th
with a time of 22:28, Keeli Holloway (11th grade) placing 19th
with a time of 23:00, Madison Boland (10th grade) placing 52nd
with a time of 25:16, and Madison Donlon (9th grade) placing 73rd
with a time of 27:39. Also running varsity
for the Lady Gators were Olivia Sanders (10th grade) placing 83rd
with a time of 27:57 and Lindsy Moore (10th grade) placing 93rd
with a time of 28:38. Running in the
open JV race for the Gators and Lady Gators were Alondra Rios-Ragel (10th
grade) placing 6th out 48 female JV runners with a time of 28:18,
Jesus Oropeza (11th grade) placing 46th with a time of
23:37, Wesley Frye (9th grade) placing 72nd with a time
of 25:11, Gavin Bennett (11th grade) placing 82nd with a
time of 25:56, and Stephen Valdez (9th grade) placing 102nd
with a time of 27:20. There were 130
boys competing in the JV open race.
The Gators and Lady Gators will be travelling to Toombs Co. to run in the Bulldog Invitational on Thursday 9/22/22. The race will be held at Toombs Co. HS. The first race begins at 5:00 PM
