2 AAAAA Region Championship @ Wayne Co. HS 10/26/17

The Gator cross country teams competed in the Region 2 AAAAA Championship, hosted by Wayne Co. HS on Thursday 10/26 with both the boys team and the girls team qualifying for the state cross country meet for the 2nd year in a row.  The boys team placed 3rd in the region with a team score of 68 points and the girls team placed 3rd in the region with their finish decided by a tiebreaker with Statesboro HS.  Both Ware Co. and Statesboro scored 73th place finisher for each team (only the top 5 are designated scorers) and Ware Co. sophomore Mia Sandiford finished 28th with a time of 26:15 ahead of Statesboro’s 6th place runner sealing the tiebreaker for Ware Co.  Ware County senior Logan Millard was named as 2 AAAAA first team All Region with his third place finish in the boys race.  The top 7 runners in each race are named first team All Region.  The top 5 runners for the boys were Logan Millard (sr.), finishing 3rd with a time of 17:14, Matt Hamilton (sr.), finishing 9th with a time of 18:18, Ethan Frye (so.), finishing 16th with a time of 18:38, Bruce Altman (so.), finishing 18th with a time of 18:48, and Dakota Walker (so.), finishing 22nd with a time of 19:17.  The Girls top 5 were Kaylah Youngblood (so.), finishing 9th with a time of 22:31, Maree Harris (jr.), finishing 10th with a time of 22:33, Aaliyah Sandiford (so.), finishing 16th with a time of 23:31, Hannah Boggan (so.), finishing 17th with a time of 23:32, and Bailey Moore (fr.), finishing 21st with a time of 24:13.  The Gators will run at the AAAAA state cross country meet to be held at Carrollton HS on Friday 11/3/17.  The boys will race at 9:00 am and the girls will race at 9:45.

Cross Country Results @ Wayne Co. 10/19/17



The Ware Co. Gators runners ran at Wayne Co. Thursday in their last regular season meet of the year.  The Gator boys team finished 5th out of 18 teams and the girls finished 7th out of 18 teams (Team results are listed below).  The top 5 boys for the Gators were Logan Millard (sr) finishing 4th with a time of 17:22, Ethan Frye (so) finishing 17th with a time of 18:26, Matt Hamilton (sr) finishing 25th with a time of 18:48, Dakota Walker (so) finishing 54th with a time of 19:44, and Bruce Altman (so) finishing 59th with a time of 19:55.  For the Gator girls, the top 5 finishers were Kaylah Youngblood (so) finishing 18th with a time of 23:15, Maree Harris (jr) finishing 21st with a time of 23:20, Aaliyah Sandiford (so) finishing 43rd with a time of 24:39, Hannah Boggan (so) finishing 55th with a time of 25:19, and Bailey Moore (fr) finishing 57th with a time of 25:43.  The boys race hosted a total of 140 runners and the girls race hosted 107 runners. The Gators will travel back to Wayne Co. next Thursday and to compete in the Region 2 AAAAA Cross country championship.  The top 4 teams will compete in the GHSA state Cross country meet in Carrollton GA on Friday Nov. 3rd.  Boys will run at 4:30 and girls will run at 5:00 on Thursday 10/26.  Team results are listed below:
