The Ware County Lady Gators competed in the GHSA State Cross Country Championship on Saturday hosted by Carrollton High School. After an impressive season and the first cross country region championship in school history, the Lady Gators finished 19th out of 30 schools representing the AAAAA classification. There were a total of 206 athletes who finished the state championship race. Scoring for the Lady Gators were Whitney Moore (fr.) finishing 83rd with a time of 23:05, Keeli Holloway (fr.) finishing 104th with a time of 23:45, Selina Ocadiz (so.) finishing 109th with a time of 23:53, Evie Brown (so.) finishing 123rd with a time of 24:20, and Hannah Moore (fr.) finishing 125th with a time of 24:24. Also running for the lady Gators were Stella Kallay (fr.) finishing 176th with a time of 26:57 and Brittany Newman (sr.) finishing 198th with a time of 30:00. The Lady Gators have a bright future ahead of them as 6 of the 7 varsity runners are freshman and sophomores!
