Region 1-AAAAA Championship Hosted by Coffee Co. High School 10/28/21

 


The Gators and Lady Gator cross country team competed in the Region 1-AAAAA championship held at Coffee Middle school on Thursday 10/28/21.  The Gators finished 5th overall in the region and the Lady Gators finished 2nd overall falling to Wayne Co. by 1 point.  The Boys race had 35 runners in the field and the Girls race hosted 31 runners.  Running for the Gators were Jon Robertson (jr.) finishing 23rd with a time of 20:44, Hayden Clement (fr.) finishing 27th with a time of 22:16, Gavin Bennett (so.) finishing 28th with a time of 22:50, Landon Nettles (so.) finishing 30th with a time of 23:49, and Corbett Nettles (fr.) finishing 31st with a time of 24:25.  Also running for the Gators were Caleb Freelove (sr.) finishing 33rd with a time of 25:08 and Jesus Oropeza (so.) finishing 34th with a time of 26:38.  The Lady Gators had 3 runners in the top 10 including Keeli Holloway (so.) finishing 6th with a time of 21:50 (PR), Whitney Moore (so.) finishing 7th with a time of 21:59, and Selina Ocadiz (jr.) finishing 10th with a time of 22:47.  Also scoring for the Lady Gators were Hannah Moore (so.) finishing 11th with a time of 22:59 and Evie Brown (jr.) finishing 12th with a time of 23:07.  Non-scoring runners for the Lady Gators were Samantha Savinon Rios (so.) finishing 17th with a time of 23:51 and Olivis Sanders (fr.) finishing 25th with a time of 28:20.  This was the last event of the season for the boys team.  

The Girls will travel to Carrollton High School next Saturday to compete in the GHSA Cross Country State Championship.  The AAAAA Girls race will begin at 10:15 AM.

Senior Night at Home 10/21

 

The Ware County cross country teams honored their only senior Thursday night in the swamp, Caleb Freelove.  Caleb has been a member of the team for 1 year.  

The Gators hosted 3 teams Thursday including Brantley Co. Long County, and Echols county.  The Girls race ran at 4:30 and included 28 runners and the Boys race followed containing 41 runners.  The Lady Gators swept the field with a perfect score of 15, finishing all 9 of their runners in the top 9 in the field.  The Boys placed 3rd of the 4 teams in the field.  The top 5 Lady Gators were Keeli Holloway (so.) finishing 1st with a time of 21:59, Whitney Moore (so.) finishing 2nd with a time of 22:59, Evie Brown (jr.) finishing 3rd with a time of 23:17, Selina Ocadiz (jr.) finishing 4th with a time of 23:44, and Samantha Savinon Rios (so.) finishing 5th with a time of 23:58.  Also running for the Lady Gators were Hannah Moore (so.) finishing 6th with a time of 24:00, Lindsy Moore (fr.) finishing 7th with a time of 25:07, Madison Boland (fr.) finishing 8th with a time of 26:40, and Olivia Sanders (fr.) finishing 9th with a time of 27:27.  The Gators Top 5 were Jon Robertson (jr.) placing 7th with a time of 20:32, Hyden Clement (fr.) placing 15th with a time of 21:38, Gavin Bennett (so.) placing 24th with a time of 23:28, Caleb Freelove (sr.) placing 29th with a time of 24:29, and Jesus Oropeza (so.) placing 31 with a time of 26:08.  

The Gators and Lady Gators will be competing in the Region 1-AAAAA Championship next Thursday to be held at Coffee Co. Middle School.  

The boys will run at 4:30 PM and the Girls will defend their region title from last season at 5:00 PM.

Panther Prowl - Tift Area Academy 10/16/21

 




The Ware County cross country teams participated in the Panther Prowl Saturday 10/16/21 hosted by Tift Area Academy in Chula GA on Saturday.  There were 9 teams competing in the event including Tift Area Academy, Fitzgerald, Westfield School, Westwood Schools, Berrien, Brookwood, Cook, Crisp, and Ware.  Due to SAT's and other events, many teams were incomplete, but it was a beautiful day to run!  The Gators only had 3 runners in the field of 57 and the Lady Gators had a full team in the field of 38.  The Lady Gators won the event against the 5 full teams competing, scoring 23 points, with runners finishing 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 13th.  The Gators did not have a full team so they did not have a team score.  Running for the Lady Gators were Kelli Holloway (so.) finishing 1st in the field with a time of 23:36, Evie Brown (jr.) finishing 2nd with a time of 24:16, Lindsy Moore (fr.) finishing 5th with a time of 24:46, Samantha Savinon Rios (so.) finishing 6th with a time of 24:47, and Olivia Sanders (fr.) finishing 13th with a time of 28:05.  Also running for the Lady Gators was Madison Boland (fr.) finishing 31st with a time of 32:18.  Running for the Gators were Gavin Bennett (so.) finishing 24th with a time of 23:29, Hayden Clement (fr.) finishing 41st with a time of 25:16, and Jesus Oropeza (so.) finishing 51st with a time of 27:33.  The Ware county Cross Country teams will finish their regular season at home on Thursday 10/21/21 honoring their seniors in the swamp.  The first race will begin at 4:30 PM.  Team scores are listed below:

Wayne County 10/14/21

 



The Ware County cross country teams competed at Wayne County on Thursday 10/14/21 running in the 15-team field including South Effingham, Jeff Davis, Brunswick, Coffee, Wayne, Camden, Effingham, Frederica Academy, Long, Savannah Arts, Tattnall, Bradwell Institute, Pierce, and Statesboro.  The Gators placed 15th in the field and the lady Gators placed 5th overall in the field.  There were a total of 137 runners in the boys varsity race and 109 runners in the girls varsity race.  Competing for the Gators were Jon Robertson (jr.) placing 59th with a time of 19:57, Gavin Bennett (so.) placing 119th with a time of 23:07, Hayden Clement (fr.) placing 125th with a time of 23:44, Caleb Freelove (sr.) placing 127th with a time of 24:24, and Jesus Oropeza (so.) placing 134th with a time of 26:51.  The top 5 Lady Gators were Keeli Holloway (so.) placing 17th with a time of 22:02, Evie Brown (jr.) placing 31st with a time of 22:56, Whitney Moore (so.) placing 34th with a time of 23:19, Samantha Savinon Rios (so.) placing 37th with a time of 23:38, and Hannah Moore (so.) placing 42nd with a time of 24:08.  Also running for the Lady Gators were Lindsy Moore (fr.) placing 45th with a time of 24:12, Madison Boland (fr.) placing 80th with a time of 27:22, and Olivia Sanders (fr.) placing 81st with a time of 27:30.  

The Gators and Lady Gators will be travelling to Tift Area Academy this Saturday 10/16/21 to compete in the Panther Prowl.  

The first race begins at 9:00 AM.

Run the Plank - Brunswick 10/7/21





The Ware County HS Cross Country teams participated in “Run the Plank” hosted by Brunswick high school on Thursday 10/7/21.  The race was held at Coastal Georgia College and hosted 9 teams including Glynn Academy, Brunswick, Camden, Frederica Academy, Pierce, Bradwell Institute, Brantley Co. Liberty, and Ware.  The Boys placed 9th over all and the Girls team placed 1st in the field.  The Boys varsity race contained 95 runners and the Girls varsity race contained 72 runners.  Running for the Boys team were Jon Robertson (jr.) finishing 38th with a time of 20:56, Landon Nettles (so.) finishing 61st with a time of 22:42, Corbett Nettles (fr.) finishing 66th with a time of 23:40, Hayden Clement (fr.) finishing 72nd with a time of 24:35, Gavin Bennett (so.) finishing 87th with a time of 26:03, and Caleb Freelove (sr.) finishing 89th with a time of 26:39.  The top five Lady Gators were Keeli Holloway (so.) finishing 8th with a time of 23:08, Whitney Moore (so.) finishing 10th with a time of 23:24, Evie Brown (jr.) finishing 13th with a time of 23:41, Samantha Savinon Rios (so.) finishing 18th with a time of 24:19, and Hannah Moore (so.) finishing 19th with a time of 24:20.  Also running for the Lady Gators were Lindsy Moore (fr.) finishing 22nd with a time of 24:34, Olivia Sanders (fr.) finishing 45th with a time of 27:32, and Madison Boland (fr.) finishing 52nd with a time of 28:25.  

The Gators and Lady Gators will travel to Wayne Co. on Thursday 10/ 14/21.  The first race will begin at 4:30.

Wayne County 9/30/21

 



The Gator Cross Country teams competed in their sixth meet of the season at Wayne Co. HS on Thursday afternoon.  There were 18 teams competing including Glynn Academy, Camden, Coffee, Wayne, Tattnall, Long, Appling, Frederica Academy, Pierce, Brantley, Bradwell, Richmond Hill, Bacon, First Presbyterian, Effingham, Ware, South Effingham, and Liberty.  The Gators finished 16th out of 18 in the field and the Lady Gators 6th out of 14 teams in the field, running without 3 of their top 5 athletes competing.  The boys race hosted 148 runners and the girls race hosted 120 runners.  The top 5 Gator runners were Jon Robertson (jr.) finishing 48th with a time of 20:09, Hayden Clement (fr.) finishing 102nd with a time of 22:32, Landon Nettles (so.) finishing 104th with a time of 22:45, Corbitt Nettles (fr.) finishing 114th with a time of 23:26, and Gavin Bennett (so.) finishing 116th with a time of 23:35.  Also running for the Gators were So. Jesus Oropeza finishing 140th with a time of 26:46 and Sr. Caleb Freelove finishing 141st with a time of 26:46.  The top 5 Lady Gators were Keeli Holloway (so.) placing 10th with a time of 22:15, Whitney Moore (so.) placing 14th with a time of 23:07, Samantha Savinon Rios (so.) placing 34th with a time of 24:28, Lindsy Moore (fr.) placing 35th with a time of 24:32, and Madison Boland (fr.) placing 65th with a time of 26:46.  Also running for the Lady Gators were Olivia Sanders (fr.) placing 67th with a time of 27:08 and Jaiden Addison (fr.) placing 112th with a time of 34:29.  

The Gators and Lady Gators will be competing next Thursday at Brunswick.
